I will go over any changes or updates I have since our AGM in K-W.
A. Paintings: Paintings were unveiled in Cartier Square Hall Ottawa 15
October 2009. Will be touring different museums across Canada and
should be in National War Museum 30 November 2010.
B. Centennial Website: Please keep in touch with Centennial Website
www.canadiannavy100.forces.gc.ca for any changes, directions or
updates for Centennial events. Any RCNA clubs holding 100 anniversary
local events, contact CNC 2010 for inclusion on their website.
C. Merchandising high end items: Items on website
navy2010giftware.ca. These items are not discounted.

D. National day of recognition - still no official approval.
E. Stamps: Two circulation stamps have been approved and go on sale
3 May 2010.
Stamp 1 will have HMCS Niobe and sailor (male)
Stamp 2 will have HMCS Halifax and sailor (Female)
F. Coins: No official word on circulation coin yet, but still on table.
G. Namesake Project: To date 340 communities have been confirmed
for namesake presentation. These should be on Centennial Website if
not already
H. Coffee Table Books: Navy book will be launched on 16 November
2009, suggested retail $39.95

I. (1) Centennial Bell: It is a Frigate size bell. It has been moulded and
will be dedicated on HMCS Sackville with the waters from Canada's
seven bodies of water of Canada's shoreline at the end of April 2010.
Date TBA.
The bell rope judging will take place at that time. On 04 May 2010 bell will
be donated to people of Canada and displayed in Parliament Buildings.
(2) Centennial Ball - Halifax 06 August 2010 at the Halifax Convention
Centre. 480 pairs of tickets will be available. Cost is approx $300.00 per
couple but may possibly be reduced with sponsorship. This will not be
known until January 2010. A draw for tickets will take place 31 December
2009. Names must be in by that date. To order e-mail
randolph.smart@forces.gc.ca.
Ottawa and Esquimalt Centennial Balls when know will be on the
Centennial website.
J. Musical Road Show: check centennial website for dates. Times and
appearances in your local or nearest community.
K. International Fleet Review - Halifax - 32 plus ships confirmed to date,

Victoria - 10 - 13 June 2010
L. Royalty: It is still anticipated but still no confirmation as to whom will
be coming or when.
M. Scouts Canada: see centennial website re scouts.
N. Poster Contest: For CF Personnel, Dependents and DND Employees
- see centennial website.
O. Ships Models - Project scrapped.
P. Centennial Rose: See fall Yardarm (RCNA)
Q.Memory Project: A non profit organization called "The Memory Project
- stories of the Second World War did a presentation at the October 09
CNC 2010 meeting.
They are a group which goes around to various locations across Canada
taking stories from WWII Veterans. They come to your area at no cost to
your club to get these stories. I have asked them to mail out a
familiarization package to each of our clubs. Just giving you a heads up
so you know what it is all about.
